Baldwin Richardson Ice Cream 1921

1921

Founded and headquartered in Chicago, Baldwin Ice Cream was a longstanding household name in the Chicagoland area with a strong consumer base. It was also one of the largest African-American-owned food companies in the U.S.

Baldwin Richardson Leader

1992

Eric Johnson, a second-generation entrepreneur, purchases Baldwin Ice Cream Co from trailblazing businesswoman, Jolyn Robichaux. This acquisition resulted in significant distribution and sales growth.

1997

Baldwin Ice Cream Company purchased Richardson Foods, creating Baldwin Richardson Foods (BRF). The combined company evolved into a full-service retail and food service ingredient company with strong relationships with some of America’s favorite quick-service restaurants and casual dining chains.

2001

BRF entered the industrial marketplace when it began supplying ingredients to food manufacturers. Later, with the acquisition of the Industrial Products Division of The J.M. Smucker Company, the company greatly expanded its presence in this market.

BRF invests in digital transformation and operational infrastructure. These enhancements drove operational efficiency and unlocked capacity, ensuring the ability to meet increasing customer demand with innovative, high-quality solutions.

2023

BRF entered a new era of bigger, bolder moves with the expansion into aseptic beverage manufacturing. The asset purchase in Corona, CA marks a milestone in our company's history, expanding our leadership position as a full-service liquid products manufacturer in the food and beverage industry.

Baldwin Richardson Office

2024

BRF acquired Pennsauken Packing Company, LLC. The purchase of this New Jersey-based facility expanded our aseptic beverage manufacturing capabilities into new geographies, enabling us to serve customers from coast-to-coast and accelerating our long-term commercial strategy.
